Supplies

You can purchase a small plastic house like the one I'm using at places like Walmart, Target, Amazon or Dollar Tree.

Assembling Your DIY Gingerbread Wreath Hanger

Now that you've assembled your materials, let's get started!

Step 1: Paint Your House and Hanger

Spray paint the house and the wreath hanger with your brown spray paint that is the color of gingerbread cookies.

If you have a place to hang the hanger it makes painting it much easier.

Be sure to do the spray painting outdoors or in a very well-ventilated area.

It will take multiple coats, make sure you let each coat dry before adding a new one.

Step 2: Decorate Your House a Gingerbread Dream

Draw designs on your houses using a paint marker. A fine-tip and regular tip white marker works the best. Use your creativity! Dots, loops, whirls, and snow are all fun ways to decorate your house.

Step 3: Paint Ticking on Hanger

Use the paint marker to add ticking stripes down the sides of the front of the wreath hanger.

Add these stripes gives the hanger part more character and ties it in with the decorative house. Now let the painted stripes dry.

Step 4: Attach your House to the Hanger

Next, it is time to glue the house and the hanger together. Add a generous amount of hot glue to the outside end of the hanger.

Hold it in place until it is good and dry. For more stability you can drill a hole into the hook and thread wire through a window and tie it onto the hanger but so far the hot glue is holding real good.

Step 5: Hang Your Wreath

Hang the wreath hanger on your door by gently placing the top of the hanger over your door. Add your wreath to the hanger by carefully placing the top of the wreath behind the house on the hanger.
