Cottage Style She Shed

You might be wondering, what is a she shed? We want to answer that for you as well. So read on for everything you need to know about setting up your very own cottage-style she shed.

What is a She Shed?

Let us start by telling you that a cottage style she shed can be a little space that you can escape to. It can be all of your favorite pretty things or a space where you get away from noise and distractions to get your work done.

Your hobby can be set up inside your she shed, or it can just be a place to read a book and have a cup of coffee.

COTTAGE STYLE SHE SHED

A cottage-style she shed doesn't just have to be a dream. It is a totally achievable space that anyone can create.

Think about how you want to use the interior and what vibe you're going for. Maybe for you it's all about relaxing, so consider big floor pillows and a basket for blankets. Or, if you love to garden, use your creativity for a fun storage space for your gardening tools.

From craft rooms to a practical workspace or somewhere to practice yoga, there are so many ways to turn your she shed into the perfect space for you.

I've always loved the idea of having a she shed with enough room for a cozy reading nook or art studio.

If you love to DIY, you can create your dream cottage style she shed on a budget. Once you know the style and purpose of your space, shop flea markets, thrift stores, and even your local antique shops for the just the right decorations.

We'd love to show you our friends' she sheds and help get your creative juices flowing. You're sure to find inspiration here!

A GETAWAY SHE SHED

A white she shed by Our Forever Farmhouse

Not long ago, Erica from Our Forever Farmhouse gave us a look in one of her bedrooms for our Sherwin Williams Repose Gray Paint post.

Now we are looking where she goes to get away from things. Her she shed.

In a blog post, she walks through how her she shed came together, and it's truly inspirational.

BOHO STYLE SHE SHED

Black Boho Style She Shed by Miss Rustic Arrow

As a mom of identical twins, Nikki, over at Miss Rustic Arrow, needs a little place to hide away in.

This boho she shed is perfect, and Nikki created a stunning sanctuary.

These are a few she-sheds from friends, but I found more on Pinterest. In fact, Pinterest has loads of she-shed ideas. I saved a bunch in my Decorating Greenhouse, She Sheds and Sunrooms board here.

Here are a few of my favorites:

She Shed with Decorative Trim

I love the added trim detail to the eves on this house. What a cute way to elevate the architecture of your she shed with gingerbread-style trim.

She Shed with Double Doors

This next she shed has double doors. What a great idea to include double doors. On a pretty day, you can open the doors to let the sunshine in, and it will make your shed feel larger.

But the best part about this she shed is the painted doors. Paint your doors your favorite color or go for something fun. It is your she shed, so why not be adventurous with color?

AN OFFICE SHE SHED

Kate, over at Simple Pin Media, has a lovely business she shed. This is the place where she runs her business, meets with people virtually, and enjoys quiet time.

The inside is dressed with white shiplap walls and a cozy spot to sit and rest along with her desk where business occurs.

This cozy she shed would fit perfectly in any farmhouse backyard. Don't you agree?

A SEWING SHE SHED

If you love all things crafty, you'll love this she shed. Shannon, from Cre8tively Me, has an all-things-craft themed she shed.

If you want an inside tour of her workspace, she has a video posted on her Instagram page.

Speaking of taking a peek inside, she looks at the interior of these she sheds. This is a crafter's dream.

Crafting She Shed Interiors

This shed might be a detached garage, which is a great alternative to a she shed in your garden or backyard.

Look carefully at the organization for ideas for your she shed. I love the soft, subtle pink paint color! That gives the room a peaceful setting.

This next crafters she shed is another organizer's dream!

When setting up your she shed, remember the little decoration details like the pennant garland. This one made me think of this free printable pennant garland in my free printable library. If you want this free printable, subscribe to my newsletter here.

This gardening she shed belongs to Tamlyn, at Wild Run Farms.

She uses this space for the prepping of seed pods and such.

She has the perfect farmhouse sink in her gardening shed. The large windows everywhere are an absolute dream.

If this gardening she shed inspires you to do some planting, then we have a great beginner's container gardening story for you.

A GARDENING SHE SHED

This sweet little gardeners' paradise is Nicole's at Vintage Brick House.

It is charming with its cupola on top and a beautiful overhang over the door, and then there are the window boxes. I love the idea of decorating a she shed with flower boxes. Talk about adorable!

What a great place to work on your green thumb skills.

She She Made with Windows

If you are handy enough to build your she shed, consider incorporating lots of windows, especially if your shed is for gardening. The extra light will make the space feel larger and happier.

Here is an example of a smaller she shed where they used windows for the upper sides and roof.

I don't know about you, but I am particularly fond of the weathervane on top. In fact, stay tuned because I am sharing my shed, which I adorned with a bunny weathervane.

She Shed Nested in Garden

If you are looking for a gardening shed, I assume you have a green thumb. Consider nestling your she shed inside your garden. The walk to your small retreat will be nothing but magical.

I love how this shed is nested deep into her garden.

Now, let's take a look at my gardening shed.

I designed it to be narrow and long, with a cupola on top and a bunny weathervane. The cupola and weathervane give it charcter.

Originally, I hoped to put a small round window on the facade, but I eliminated it to save money. However, I hope to add some gingerbread trim along the eves one day.

How to build a loft in a shed

Our gardening shed, or maybe I should say it is more of a he shed is matched with our house. We used the same color and vinyl siding so the shed would blend in with our current home.

We recently organized our shed and built a loft and ladders inside. I share all the details on how to build a loft in a shed, and I show photos and steps on organizing a shed.
