Hannah's Room Tour features trending fresh new styles plus brings in some old and upcycled items too. Follow along as we take you into this space that was designed with a nice, cozy and safe feeling in mind. The best tween girl bedroom makeover for a small room.
Hannah's room tour is a constantly evolving space. It is not complete, but I couldn't resist sharing at this stage because it is a great example of a tween girl bedroom makeover.
In the future, she has a new furniture arrangement planned and some other special details. But for now, I hope Hannah's Room Tour brings inspiration to you all!
HANNAH'S TWEEN ROOM TOUR
Her room is a compilation of old and new which I LOVE! Reusing is a great way to be earth conscious! I will note at the bottom of each picture where she found items either online, shopping or traveling. I hope you enjoy!
Let's start with the bed.
Preteen Room Bedding
When designing a bed for a girl who is not a child but yet not a teen you can mix and match the bedding to give it more character.
On Hannah's bed we mixed a neutral buffalo check with white sheets, lace pillowcase and a linen throw pillow. With a neutral base she can add any favorite stuffed animals or more pillows that she loves.
Bedspread: Ikea or you can find one similar HERE
(Amazon)Creative Night Stand
Did I mention this bedroom is very small? It is about 9 foot by 11 foot so floor space is tights. To remedy this we took a vintage wood box and mounted it to the wall. Now Hannah has a tiny nightstand that doesn't take up floor place.
Add a tiny lamp and your nightstand is complete.
This wooden box mounted next to bed actually belongs to her Papa and Hannah loves vintage things so mixing a little new and old really gives this preteen bedroom lots of character.
Small kitten: Anthropologie
Basket Box: Market in Mexico City
White box: TJMaxx
Faux Succulent: Target
Dresser for Small Room
Remember that this room is on the small size so again we are trying to maximize space becuase a tween still like to play on the floor. How do we maximize space and still have a dresser?
Look for a dresser that is only 12 inches deep. There are many cabinets like this on the internet. You get the width without the depth.
On her dresser we added a television, wall art, books and a bookend. Keeping it simple, functional but showing how she is maturing.
Dresser: Kirkland's
Ball Garland: Mexico City market or you can find one similar HERE
(Amazon)Wood Carved Art: TJmaxx
(Amazon) (Amazon)Recently while visiting her friend in Mexico, she discovered the benefits to using essential oils
. For fun, we decided to give it a try and quickly discovered it actually works. from Hungary did a great job putting her to sleep while she was trying to do her homework. Needless to say, we had to shut it off until she was finished.Another great place to get essential oils is Arbonne. I recently discovered their lavender oil to be good quality and they have other great essential oils to choose from too.
Accessorizing a Tween Bedroom
Now remember your preteen is somewhere between childhood and the teens so look for accessories that are mature but still fun and whimsical.
Here are a few favorites Hannah picked out starting with this sweet dish where she can put her jewelry.
Glass Tray: Natural Life
Wood Pencil Holder belonged to her Mema
Bird: good question
Planner: Anthropologie
Door Hanging: Target
Consider a full length mirror for a tween girl bedroom.
A large oversized mirror can have many functions. First it makes the rooom appear larger than it is and second your child is growing up which means she is taking more interest in her appearance. So a full length mirror will help her see if she is all pulled together before leaving home.
Now you might be wondering about buying an expensive large mirror. Well, believe it or not this used to be a large bathroom vanity mirror and I got it for a steal. So take advantage of second hand mirrors. Its a budget friendly way to decorate.
Final Thoughts
We have come to the end of decorating a preteen girl bedroom. Remember your tween bedroom is caught between two worlds – childhood and teens. So give it the big girl details without loosing the fun of childhood.
Create the foundation and then let her help you shop for accessories to bring out her personality.Good luck on decorating your tweens bedroom!
