In the many years of decorating homes, I have found hanging wreaths on mirrors is a unique way to add texture and style to a space. The options are endless; for example, you can add a wreath to a wall mirror, a large leaning mirror, or a propped mirror over a fireplace mantel, entry table, or anywhere.

Today I will show you three of the easiest ways to hang your wreath on a mirror.

  • Front suction cup hook method
  • Front command hook method
  • Back Painter's tape method

How to Hang a Wreath on a Mirror

Before you begin this project, there are a few things to consider, like the size of your wreath and the supplies you will need. Here is a list of supplies you might need depending on the technique you choose to use.

Next, I recommend purchasing a wreath that fits within the frame. In other words, ensure the wreath's outside points do not exceed the inside of the frame.

Now consider the weight of your wreath. If it is heavy, use a command hook, but if it is lightweight, use the painter's tape trick or the suction hook.

To begin, hang a small wreath on this medium-sized mirror with a suction hook designed for lightweight items. I'm going to show you how I hang a wreath from a mirror in my living room with a beautiful wreath I love.

Hang a Wreath on a Mirror with a Suction Hook

Suction cup hooks are a great way to hang wreaths on mirrors because they are inexpensive, reusable, and will not leave permanent markings on your mirror.

Step One

The first thing you want to do is clean your mirror's surface with glass cleaner and paper towels so you have a perfectly smooth, clean surface. Also, make sure your suction hook is clean.

Step Two

Before hanging attaching your suction cup, hold your wreath up to the mirror to determine where you want to place your suction cup. Remember, you want to consider where the hook will be, not the suction cup itself.

Step Three

Remember when we were little and when it was cold out we would use our breath to fog up a mirror and draw designs? We're going to do something similar here.

Take a deep breath and breathe out through your mouth onto the suction cup surface. It'll make a little “fog” on the suction cup that will help it adhere to the mirror surface. Place your suction cup in the predetermined location on the mirror.

Hang a Wreath on a Mirror with a Command Hook

Adhesive strips are great because they are easy to remove and won't leave any permanent marks on your mirror.

Step One

Just like with the suction cup, you'll want to start with a clean mirror surface and determine where you want the hook part of the command hook to be on your mirror.

Step Two

Remove the backing from the command hook and follow the instructions provided with how to attach your hook to the mirror surface. You may need to let the command hook sit on the mirror for awhile before hanging your wreath.

Step Three

Hang your wreath. If your wreath is nice and full, you shouldn't be able to see the hook. If your wreath is thinner, you may want to consider using a clear hook that won't show.

Hang a Wreath on a Mirror with Ribbon

Using ribbon to hang a wreath on a mirror is an easy way to display your wreath without attaching anything to the front of a mirror. I love the look of ribbon and you can find them in so many shades and textures at any craft store.

It's also a great option if you're using a leaning mirror, or a propped mirror.

Note – The best way to use this method is to do when the mirror is off the wall or surface that you have it propped against.

Step One

Choose your decorative ribbon and cut enough ribbon to loop around the top of your wreath and over the back of the mirror. It's better to cut it a little longer than you think you'll need, you can always cut more off if needed.

Step Two

Loop the ribbon around the top of the wreath and then over the top of the mirror. Once you are happy with the wreath's location on the mirror, secure the ribbon on the back of the mirror frame using painter's tape. The painter's tape will come off easily when you're ready to remove it, no hot glue needed!
