Storing Loose Leaf Tea in Glass Jars with Wood Lids
Glass jars with wood lids are one of my favorite loose-leaf tea storage ideas. The airtight seal keeps moisture and air out, preserving the tea’s flavor.
The glass allows you to easily see the contents, while the wood lid adds an all natural touch that complements any kitchen decor.
That’s why I chose clear glass jars with wood lids that seal. I wanted something for my loose leaf teas that was easy to see, and these ones from Amazon come with an attached wooden spoon.

I also used my label maker to label the loose leaf teas and cut the ingredients and brand from the packaging to go inside so I wouldn't forget the tea details.

That wraps up all my tea storage ideas. Now, let's talk about how to keep tea fresh and how I ended up organizing my tea station.
How Do You Keep Tea Bags Fresh for Longer?
To enjoy the best flavor, it’s important to store your tea properly. Here are a few simple tips:
- Keep tea bags in an airtight container to prevent exposure to moisture and air.
- Store tea away from direct sunlight and heat to maintain its freshness.
- Use glass jars with sealing lids or BPA-free plastic containers to keep tea bags organized and fresh.
- If you love seasonal teas, store them separately to make it easy to rotate flavors throughout the year.
My Tea Storage Setup
After trying different ideas, I finally found the perfect storage solution for my tea collection and moved them to my coffee station, where my kettle is sitting.

Speaking of coffee stations here is my blog post on how to make a mini coffee bar.

Here’s what I use:
- A plastic BPA-fr, BPA-free storage box to store tea bags, keeping them neat and protected. I stacked two on the top shelf of the cabinet.
- Glass containers with wood-sealing lids from Amazon for my loose leaf teas. These are on the same shelf next to the storage boxes.
- A vintage ceramic tea container with a sealing lid for loose leaf teas. (at the last minute, I decided to not use it in the cabinet because I had so many glass jars)
- A tea tin from Trader Joe’s to store my pumpkin rooibos tea. This one is also in the back because my favorite time to brew this tea is in the fall.
- Tea infuser is placed in the front for easy access.

I moved everything to a kitchen cupboard in my coffee station since that’s where my tea kettle, cups, and tea accessories are. I placed them on the top shelf, just over the coffee and mugs.
This saves valuable counter space, and I organize so many different varieties of tea.

By the way, I love this electric tea kettle. I highly recommend it.

These ribbed coffee mugs are my favorite! I found mine locally, but I tracked down the same style here.

And for summer, the cold brew glasses are a perfect choice!

Now, everything is in one convenient spot, making tea time even more enjoyable.
