With fall almost here, we're all getting the bug to start changing up our decorations! Of course, pumpkins are one of the most favorite fall decorations. But, how do you use them in your decor?
Do you go to the nursery, grab a pumpkin, and put it by your front door?
There's so much more you can do with them! Let me show you some ideas for handmade pumpkin decorations that you can try, courtesy of friends and a few of my own.
DIY PUMPKIN DECOR
Let's begin with a few of my favorite diy pumpkin decorations I created.
DIY Terracotta Pumpkin
This first design is so simple, even the kids can help, and the inspiration was a Pottery Barn dupe. This terracotta pumpkin uses a special kind of paint that requires no mixing or mess.

Jack O Lantern Terracotta Pumpkin
Since we are on the topic of terracotta pumpkins, we cannot leave out a Jack-o'-lantern. Use the same technique as the terracotta pumpkin DIY to make small or big Jacks. Isn't he adorable!
You can decorate with him on your mantel, hearth, bookcase or even porch. Simply tuck him in anywhere for a fun festive decoration.
DIY Chalk Painted Pumpkins
Probably one of the easiest DIY projects is painting pumpkins. But take yours up a notch and use chalk paint.
Paint them a color to match your color scheme or simply different shades of white, like I did here. Add them to an old crock bowl, a dough bowl, and set them one at a time around your bookcase or on your mantel. The options are endless.
But how do you paint faux pumpkins with chalk paint? It is very easy! Clean your pumpkin with a damp rag and then begin painting. No primer needed! Add as many coats as you want, and you're done.
DIY Paper Pumpkin Garland
One of my favorite ways to decorate is with paper. This DIY paper pumpkin garland is fun and inexpensive to make. All you need is the download here from my Etsy shop, paper, scissors, twine, and time to craft.
There are numerous ways to decorate with this book page pumpkin paper garland. Layer it on your bookcase, over the front of your mantel, on the wall in your book nook, or over a window.

Painted Pumpkin Centerpiece
This DIY pumpkin centerpiece is simple and easy to create and can be crafted in one day.
Use the painted pumpkin technique, old jars as a candle holder, raffia, and a tray. Isn't this adorable! You can add any color pumpkin to this centerpiece, and it looks great for both fall and your Thanksgiving table.
