I decided this year to create a natural Christmas wreath for our garden shed door. So I started looking for ideas and suddenly came across an adorable gingham ribbon pine cones swag. I thought, I have plenty of pine cones, so I sent my husband and little niece on a hunt. It didn’t take them long before they came back with a hand full of cute pine cones. Now this is just the beginning of creating my very first Christmas Pine Cone Swag for the garden shed.

What is your interior decor style? Many people have told me that they don’t know their interior decor style? After years of decorating, I have discovered that beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. What one person thinks is so beautiful another may find tacky. Focus on what makes you feel special and content in your home. This is the beginning of finding your interior decor style.
Stacy and her sister were enjoying coffee at Starbucks during their usual Sunday before church prayer time. After their parents had passed away, they decided to find one day a week to spend time together, catch up from the week before and pray. It was their special time to connect and spend time together. But today Stacy shares that she wants to paint her kitchen, and she just couldn’t decide on a color. Her baby sister, who happened to be an Interior Designer, suggested she paint it a soft white. “A soft white kitchen?” said Stacy. That’s not a good idea with my golden retriever and two small sons. Plus it doesn’t have any color. It would be dirty all the time, and I would spend too much of my time cleaning it. Stacy wasn’t so sure about this idea, but she trusted her sister.
I’M DREAMING OF A WHITE KITCHEN!
Eventually, her little sister talked her into taking a week to think about it and promised to send her some pictures to look at. White is a refreshing, simple, and clean color. If used correctly it can be a fantastic choice. Here are a few suggestions if you are thinking of painting something white or going for an all white design.

Unlike what most people believe there are an unlimited number of shades of white. To keep this simple, there is a cool white and a warm white. Whenever you’re selecting a white start by looking at the room you are working on. If you have to work with existing furniture, cabinets and such, ask yourself if your room has more warm tones or cool tones. If it’s warm, then look for a white that has a brown undertone. If it has a more calm tone, then look for a room that’s more of a blue undertone. It’s that simple.

So, now the decision of whether you can live with a white room. Stacy has a mental block against white, and that’s why her sister suggested she take some time to think about it.
Decorating with Whites can be a challenge when it comes to cleaning. It does require daily touch-ups, and if you happen to be a germaphobe, then white might be a good choice for you because it doesn’t hide dirt and germs. ? Overall white can be a great color to use in your decorating. Don’t be afraid! If you like bright and airy then white may be the new color for you.
Accessorizing seems to be the one area that people struggle with the most. Some people never even make it out of the store because they analyze every single thing they pick up and eventually just give up. But I’m here to tell you that IT CAN BE REAL SIMPLE! You can do it with some help.
Number 1: Let’s begin at home in the room you are ready to accessorize. Look around and make an outline of each table or mantle that you want accessories for.
Number 2: For an example, I’m going to accessorize a bookcase. First let’s go to Pinterest and search bookcase or accessories. Then create a board called “Accessories” and start pinning items that you like on it. I have a board called Interior Design. You’re welcome to go search there for ideas. Now, go back and select the bookcase accessories you love the most and write down the items you need to shop for to achieve that look. Then do the same for each table, ottoman or coffee table in your room. Now you have a basic list to begin your shopping.
Number 3: Now it’s time to go shopping! If you have a friend who has a good eye for accessorizing ask them to come along and treat them to some Starbucks as a thank you. Make sure you have access to the Pinterest pictures you are trying to recreate so that when you find pieces in the store you can refer to your pin to make sure the size and item match up.
Number 4: The fun continues when you get back home! Unwrap your accessories, turn on some fun music that motivates your creative spirit, and start placing items in their place.
Number 5: Now that you are finished, clean up everything, find your favorite wine or tea, sit back and admire your work. You now have designer accessories and you did it by yourself! It’s REALLY THAT SIMPLE.
Oh, and here is a list of places I like to shop for accessories: TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Home Goods, Target, Pottery Barn, WalMart, Stein Mart, Ballard Design.
