Shoji White is a great off-white color by Sherwin Williams that is a subtle white on the exterior of a home, but on the interior, it is more off-white depending on how much light and what kind of light the room gets. Alabaster by Sherwin Williams is also a popular white paint color. So what's the difference? Alabaster has an LRV of 82, higher than the LRV of Shoji White, making it a brighter paint. Sherwin Williams Shoji White review
After looking at all the beautiful examples of Shoji White, you will be interested in learning that my daughter and I feel this is a fantastic exterior paint color, and here is why.
First, the color Shoji White was painted on all the wood of her house. Savanna's home is a warm brown brick color with a wood porch, sides and back of the house. So everything that was wood was painted off white except for the back deck and the porch floor.
Shoji is a great color that matches almost all brick colors. It is an easy color to work with and with a lower LRV, it has a soft appearance.
If you are wondering about the shutter color, they are Iron Ore, a charcoal black color leaning toward a blue undertone.
Here is a photo of the entire house except for the garage. My daughter planned to paint the brick, but after seeing all the wood painted Shoji White, she decided she liked the brick. It was the perfect paint color for her to contrast with the brick.
We give Shoji White five stars for the exterior. It is a beautiful off-white paint color. Compared to Alabaster which is another exterior favorite, Shoji is not as bright of a white.
For the interior, I would highly recommend it if you are looking for off-white colors but keep in mind that your lighting can alter colors. For example, if you are using a light bulb with a low kelvin, it will cast a yellow hue onto your paint, whereas a higher kelvin is a bluer color.
If you want your paint colors to be more natural, look for a mid-range kelvin light bulb like 4000 which is a neutral light.
Final Thoughts
I hope you enjoyed this review of SW Shoji White. It's definitely one of my favorite whites. I love the versatility of this fantastic paint color. It's a wonderful choice for interiors and exteriors.
