I love free items like these gift tags that are pretty but I also love to be creative and make something different out of them like art, bookmark, or ornaments. So this post is about taking these free printable Christmas gift tags and finding all kinds of different ways to decorate with them.

But before we jump into all the other uses for these tags let's start with their traditional use and that is adding them to your gifts for Christmas.

There are many different ways you can add a tag to your gift wrapped present or gift bags. We love the simplicity of writing to and from on the back and running a piece of twine through the hole and tieing it to a package.

Another fun use for these printable Christmas gift tags is to turn it into art.

When you go to print change the setting so the images are very large on the printable page. Then print the design on letter or legal paper depending on the size you are going for.

Printable Gift Tag Ornaments

Last on the list of a fun thing to do with Christmas free printable gift tags is to make them into ornaments for your Christmas tree.

This budget-friendly Christmas tree decoration will add a farmhouse style to your tree. We designed different shapes so you would have many options and a variety of shapes.

How do I make my own gift tags?

Now for the fun part. Let's make your gift tags so you can use them in one of the many creative ways listed above. Here is what you will need.

• Free printable Christmas gift tags (subscribe to Life on Summerhill to receive the printable.
• Paper cutter and scissors
• Twine, ribbon, or thin macrame cord
• Fine tooth comb
• Ruler
• Hole punch

Begin by cutting the tags with a paper cutter or scissors. Follow the black lines when cutting. You can either remove the black line or cut where the black line is still showing so it has a border.

Next, punch a hole where the circle is on the top of the Christmas DIY gift tag.

Now grab some twine. I used a thin macrame cord and cut a piece that is about 8″ long give or take. Run the cord through the hole and tie off the end.

Next comb out the end to give it a tassel kind of design.

And you are all finished! Now start adding them to your Christmas tree by hanging the cord on the branches.
