Get ready to create memorable decorations with your family and show off your patriotic spirit!
When summer comes in America, we have a series of patriotic holidays back to back, which is the perfect time to decorate our home and parties with these patriotic craft ideas.
At our house, we love to begin patriotic decorating in May for Memorial Day and keep the decor up through Labor Day. Between those days are other patriotic holidays, such as Flag Day, the 4th of July, or Independence Day. You have three months to leave up the decor.
But then you also have parties to decorate for and these patriotic crafts are simple, easy and will make your party shine. The supplies are inexpensive and most can be found on Amazon, at the Dollar Tree or on Etsy. So, let's start planning your next craft project beginning with some favorite printable garlands.
Patriotic Craft Ideas for your July Decor
These crafts are enjoyable for both adults and kids alike! They make for a perfect summer project with your little ones or with friends. Plus, many can be whipped up last minute using supplies you probably already have at home.
Patriotic Bow Garland
The popular bow craze inspires our first craft project. This printable DIY is so simple that you don't have to leave home to make it.
First, visit our Etsy shop to purchase your American flag bow garland kit. Then, download and print the template on regular paper.
Next, cut out the bows, punch a hole in the corners, and string on twine or a very thin ribbon.
After you finish making your stars and stripes garland, here are some ideas on where to hang it. You can display your bow garland on a hutch or any furniture, wall, mirror, porch, or over a party table. Your guests will be impressed by your creativity and patriotic spirit.
We hung ours on the hooks in our kitchen sitting room to celebrate the birth of the USA. It is an excellent place to add holiday decor!
When the summer or your party is over, flatten all the bows between cardboard and put them into a ziplock bag for next year.
American Flag Swag Garland
Another fun patriotic garland idea is also a printable. Garlands are always an easy and fun way to decorate for the holidays. These American flag swags make for the cutest decoration and come with red, white, and blue stars, too.
This printable DIY set in our Etsy shop also offers so much versatility. You can make a star garland, just a swag garland, or mix and match it like I did.
Like the bow garland, you can decorate with them anywhere. Next, I have a fun presidential DIY.
Presidential Silhouette Printable Craft
This is one of my all-time favorite patriotic holiday decorations, and I sell the president silhouette printables in the Etsy shop.
I have all the details and a tutorial on how to make these fun presidential decorations in this blog post. It's a fun craft for the whole family.
This is another great kid and adult craft; there are so many places you can decorate with them. In this photo above, I have them styled on my hutch, and the little liberty bell is from a salt and pepper set.
In the next photo, I decorated with the president's silhouettes on my bookcase.
The set has George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Thomas Jefferson silhouettes. Consider displaying these on bookcases or side tables, as part of a tablescape, or even on a wall during patriotic holidays. The possibilities are endless!
Patriotic Wreath Idea
My next craft idea will bring lots of patriotic color into your holiday decor. This red, white, and blue patriotic wreath is simple to make and looks great in your decorations.
This blog post provides all the details on how to make this Fourth of July wreath. What's great is that you can switch up the colors and create them for different holidays, too!
I decorated this holiday yarn wreath on the mirror in my entryway, but you can display it in other places, such as on the wall, front door, and interior doors. Little embellishments like this wreath add such a festive touch to your home.
Patriotic Vintage Pennant Banner
One year, I wanted to make vintage-looking red, white, and blue decorations for your July party. I was looking for a pastel idea that looked like distressed and worn fabric, so I created this patriotic pennant banner.
This DIY patriotic banner decoration is a free printable. To access our library which is full of printables, subscribe to Life on Summerhill. Your patriotic party will look amazing.
This project differs from my normal garlands because I used a sewing machine and bias tape. Look closely at the trim along the top. Can you tell that the paper is sewn into the bias tape?
You can assemble the garland with a hot glue gun if you don't have a sewing machine.
This banner has that cottagecore vibe. If you love this style, this may be your perfect patriotic banner.
You can also use this banner throughout the year—it's a cute addition to a barbecue, birthday parties or as decor in little boys' rooms.
Fun places to decorate with this banner are porches, walls, bookcases hanging on an angle, furniture, hutches, etc.
Patriotic Farmhouse Sign
This timeless upcycled decoration makes excellent wall decor during the patriotic holidays. This DIY farmhouse sign blog post provides all the details.
This patriotic summer, I searched for art to put over my mantel. While shopping in a thrift store, I came across a long canvas and repurposed it for the mantel.
You can make holiday art for your home with some chalk paint, wood, and a canvas frame. Check out all the details in this patriotic DIY farmhouse sign. It's also great if you enjoy making homemade gifts.
Well, I have shared all my patriotic craft ideas for today, but keep an eye out for more holiday decor crafts in the coming months.
