Vintage Valentine Cards & Decorations

What is it about Valentine's Day that brings visions of Cupids, kisses, sweethearts and lots of hearts? Maybe it goes back to long ago, back to the Victorian era when people gave adorable, quirky cards with sweet messages.

The messages were so cute, and the graphics were amazing. Whenever you look at them, they bring a warm, nostalgic feeling.

In my Etsy shop, I have a few vintage Valentine's pieces you can print as cards, art, or make into garlands. Here are a few:

Vintage Victorian Cherub Printables

This first one is the cutest cupid; I have three for sale in the shop. Print to display in art like I did on my mantel or give them as cards.

These little cherubs are so cute! There is this little cherub holding a floral heart, another little angel holding flowers in a blue piece of fabric, and the last one is two little chubby cherubs together bringing flowers.

This second design is a collection of 12 Valentine tags you can print and use for many things. Make Valentine's treats and use the tags to decorate with or string them up as garlands like I did her.

Now let's look at my newest creation.

Vintage Classroom Valentine Cards and Garland

This years creation reaches back to the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and 70s when these quirky and fun classroom valentine cards were popular to hand out to friends at school.

Do you remember how exciting it was to bring home a brown paper bag full of Valentine wishes from all your classmates. It filled your heart full!

To bring back these nostalgic memories this year I created a collection of cards on old fashioned envelops with school Valentine cards to string up and hang for decoration or you can print them and write sweet messages on the back to hand out to friends.

Vintage Valentine Cards and Decorations

Here are the most fun old fashioned Valentines day cards:

Aren't these the most adorable Valentine's cards you have ever seen? There are so many options from Victorian valentines to paper hearts that it is hard to pick which one.

Back in the day when manufacturers could produce them in large quantities it became much easier and popular to share them but handmade cards are still so precious which is why I love making them to sell in Etsy.

Final Thoughts

Remember me saying to think outside of the box when shopping for vintage Valentine cards?

If you look closely, one of the prints stands up like the old-fashioned Valentine's table decorations. I could see someone even taking any of the designs and making them.

What do you plan to do with the cards? Give them to loved ones, make a garland, or make a Valentine's gallery wall. Share your ideas in the comments.

Do you plan to decorate with them? They will look so cute in a little girl bedroom, classroom, kitchen, mantel or any room. These vintage greeting cards will strike up conversations and smiles.
