STEP 1: Thread String
Since love is our topic for this blog post, then I guess I can say that I fell in love with this wooden unfinished banner garland. I found mine at Target but you can find them in many places too.
Begin by drilling the holes if you need to and thread the string on one side and out the other. Or if you lucky you banner is already created and all you need to do is finish the pennants.
STEP 2: Apply wooden laser-cut hearts
Now for the fun part applying the laser cut hearts.
Apply two hearts on the pennants on each end where the word will go. I skipped a pennant between the word and the laser cut heart pennant. This depends on the size of your banner. The main thing is to have an undecorated pennant between the word and the laser cut heart.
Now let's select and apply the love message to the pennants.
STEP 3: SILHOUETTE LETTERS
Here is a little information about the LOVE letters. I used my Silhouette vinyl cutter which if your thinking of purchasing a vinyl cutting machine I would highly recommend Silhouette Cameo.
You can download their software from the internet and creativity is endless. It's marvelous!
Anyway, I used the Harrington font for my LOVE letters but if you go to my Valentine's Pinterest board you will find lots of other ideas. And I used white vinyl but like I said you can go with other colors like pink, hot pink, and red vinyl. Use what color makes you feel happy or coordinate with your living room.
Last, I made sure to measure the height I wanted the letters to be then adjusted my size inside the Silhouette vinyl cutter software. However, if you don't have a vinyl cutting machine there are lots of options in craft stores or online of letters already cut. Etsy is a great place to look at.
The internet is endless!
After you have cut your letters simply apply them according to your directions. For mine, I weeded out what I planned to no use and then place a piece of contact paper over the top of the letter I planned to use.
Then I pull the letter off with the contact paper and applied it to the pennant with an old credit card. Once I felt like the letter was secure I pulled off the contact paper.
And the first letter is applied. Now continue these steps with all the other letters.
STEP 4: FINISHED PRODUCT
So here is the end product of this Valentine's garland. Find a fun place to hang it like the mantle, furniture, or wall. I decided to hang it on our mantle plus I kept my Christmas white sweater ball garland to go with it.
Or you can add a cute pompom garland. I have more details on how to make a pom pom garland.
Oh, and that is another idea. When you're shopping for holiday decorations, look for things that might work during other holidays.

Some favorite places I like to hang garlands and banners are on the back of benches, top of hutches, mantels, windows, mirrors or chalkboards.
