This banner is so simple to make. Follow along as I take you step by step on how to make it.
STEP 1: GARLAND BANNER
Since love is our topic for this blog post, then I guess I can say that I fell in love with this wooden unfinished banner garland. I found mine at Target but you can find them many places too.
STEP 2: HEART SHAPES
Now for the fun part except looking for just the right piece took me some time. I knew I wanted heart shapes for this Valentine banner but wasn’t sure what I would find. One thing I have learned about designing is to not have an exact thing in mind but let your creativity flow as you shop. I fell in love, again when I saw these wooden hearts! Now you are wondering how I applied them to the banner. Well, remember me telling you I wanted something that was interchangeable? Behind this laser cut heart is a small clear sticky velcro dot. It worked like a charm.
STEP 3: SILHOUETTE LETTERS
A little about the LOVE letters. I used my silhouette which if your thinking of purchasing a vinyl cutting machine I would highly recommend Silhouette Cameo. You can download their software from the internet and creativity is endless. It’s marvelous! Anyways, I used the Harrington font for my LOVE letters but if you go to my Valentine’s Pinterest board you will find lots of other ideas. And I used a white vinyl but like I said you can go with other colors like pink, hot pink and red vinyl. Use what color makes you feel happy or coordinate with your living room. Last, I made sure to measure the height I wanted the letters to be then adjusted my size inside the Silhouette software. However, if you don’t have a cutting machine there are lots of options in craft stores or online of letters already cut. The internet is endless!
STEP 4: FINISHED PRODUCT
So here is the end product of this Valentine’s banner. Find a fun place to hang it like the mantle, furniture or wall. I decided to hang it on our mantle plus I kept my Christmas white sweater ball garland to go with it. Oh, and that is another idea. When you’re shopping for holiday decorations, look for things that might work during other holidays.
