Years ago, I made an orange tea light candle. It was so easy to make until I wanted to try it on other pieces of fruit. So, I decided to try an apple, but this time I wanted to take it a little further and make it into a tea light Christmas village.

I love using items around the house when decorating, and I love using natural Christmas decor during the holidays. So what is natural Christmas decor?  Well, it is using items from nature to decorate your home for the holidays.

Tea Light Christmas Village DIY

Last year we moved in the direction of simple Christmas decorations but this year are adding more natural elements. To get the inspiration flowing, we rounded up in another post some beautiful minimalist Christmas decorations.

But whether you are a minimalist or not this DIY  tea light apple village will add charm to your home for the holidays.

So, let's get started creating these sweet little beauties!

Natural Christmas Decor: Candle Apple Village

Let's begin by pulling out all your supplies.

Step 1: Place Tea Light in Candle

Now sit your tea light on top of the apple.

Cut straight down around the tea light being careful not to cut yourself.

Drive your pairing knife in at an angle towards the center all the way around.

The top should pop out when it is entirely cut.

Next cut about a half inch straight down all the way around and then place your spoon down the cut and scoop out the apple inside.

Follow the last step by placing the tealight into the hole and pressing down from the center of the candle.  Keep pressing until the light is even with the top of the apple or just below.

Do not press the metal part because it will bend.

Step 2: Paint a Christmas House on Apple Candle

Now it is the time to start painting.  Start drawing lines at different lengths all the way around the top.

Next, draw the door.

Be creative with the door and add dots, dashes, lines or whatever will give it that gingerbread look.

Place your apple tea light village on a flat surface, staggering the houses. Then set bottle brush trees around the houses. Once you have all the apple houses and trees in place sprinkle with snow everywhere.

One your village is set you can light your candles. When the candles run out, simply pull the tea lights out and pop in another candle.

Conclusion

Adding some natural Christmas decor elements to your home adds character.  Your designs will be one of a kind that no one can purchase in a store.
