From DIY ornaments to unique toppers, there’s something here to inspire your holiday decorating with decorated Christmas tree ideas!
If you love decorating for Christmas, you’re in the right place. So grab a cup of cocoa and cookies, and let’s decorate together!
Pastel Coquette Christmas Tree
To begin let's decorate our Christmas tree this year in a pastel coquette style. I started by putting up my favorite Christmas tree from King of Christmas.
This sparse and minimal tree, shown above and in the mirror, with attached string lights has been a favorite of mine for years.
DIY Christmas Tree Decorations
There is something heartwarming about homemade Christmas tree decorations so I couldn't resist add a few homemade piece to our pastel coquette tree.
DIY Air-Dry Clay Cookie Mold Ornaments
These air-dry clay cookie mold ornaments are one of my favorites. This year, I found the sweetest rabbit mold on Amazon. To give it that coquette charm, I added a pink ribbon hanger and a little bow—so simple yet so elegant!
DIY Ribbon Bows for Ball Ornaments
What is on thing that has coquette written all over it? It is bows!
When I pulled out these white ball ornaments that I got for my farmhouse Christmas decorations years ago I figured a sweet bow on top would be the icing on the cake.
I simply cut strips of fabric to make bows. Get all the details in my How to Make Ribbon from Fabric blog post.
I recently turned this fabric into stockings for my mantel, so using it on the tree ties everything together beautifully. Check out my post Make the Holidays Special with Handmade Christmas Stockings —it’s a great beginner sewing project.
DIY Vintage Jingle Bell Ornaments
Speaking of DIYs, these pink-ribbon jingle bells are a quick, inexpensive project. I picked up plain bells at the dollar store or Hobby Lobby.
Next I simply painted them with antique gold Rub ‘n Buff for a vintage look, and last added a satin pink ribbon.
This simple and easy DIY is so magical!!
Real Christmas Tree Candles
This next tree decorations is not a DIY but it add all that whimsical charm.
For a touch of nostalgia, I’m adding real candles to the tips of the branches. Don’t worry—I won’t be lighting them!
I used candle clips and bases to clip onto the tree and then added 4″ candles inside to complete the look.
These candles have so much charm and if you love vintage they truly add vintage character.
Pink Velvet Bows
Remember me saying that bows are the quinessential coquette decorations? Well, we cannot finish deocrating this tree without more bows.
To make that easy on our selves here are a bow full of the cutest pink velvet bows from Amazon.
These bows come with a gold twist tie so all you have to do is place the bow on a branch and twist tie it. I cut the extra gold tie with scissor but they give you plenty to tie it around other things like candles.
DIY Big Bow Tree Topper
Finally, let’s talk about the tree topper. For a coquette style, you can’t go wrong with a big bow.
I used fabric from the same thrifted sheet to keep the look cohesive. First, I cut a strip of fabric about 7″ wide. Then I simply tied this bow on as if tying shoelaces.
A quick tip: cut the bow tails at an angle for that perfect finishing touch.
Tree Collar Base
For the base, I pulled down my basket collar but changed out the ribbon using the thrift store sheets. I simply cut a strip the width of the opening and weaved it through for visual interest.
You can easily add a band of fabric to any tree base and to make it even more coquette consider adding a bow.
And there you have it—our pastel coquette Christmas tree!
Wool Mice Ornaments
Oh, I forgot to share my wool mice. They really give this tree that dreamy charming coquette vibe.
Now, I have 12 more trees to share with you, each with its own unique story and style.
Little Women Christmas Tree
Let’s start with my Little Women-inspired tree. Handmade popcorn garlands, cranberry bead accents, candles, and burgundy ribbons brought this classic story to life.
If you want to create a Little Women Christmas tree, think handmade decorations.
Victorian Blue Christmas Decoration
Next is my Victorian blue Christmas tree. This one features blue velvet bows, delicate glass ornaments, candles, vintage jingle bells and adorable wool mice my husband gifted me.
It's a classic example of a traditional Christmas tree with a snuggly knit tree skirt that hugs the trunk.
Grand Floridian-Inspired Tree
Travel with me to the Grand Floridian Hotel at Walt Disney World, where I drew inspiration from their gorgeous Victorian trees.
Big velvet bows, golden accents, and intricate ornaments made this tree stand out. Trees are everywhere, but the star is the massive tree in the middle of the lobby.
Farmhouse Christmas Tree
For a farmhouse feel, I decorated with burgundy, white, and gold. The viral Home Depot tree was the perfect base, and I tucked in pheasant ornaments and a metal star for a rustic touch.
Added candles those white ball ornaments, berry sticks and much more for that farmhouse look.
Outdoor Flocked Tree
On my back porch, I added a snowy flocked tree. Red berry picks, nature-inspired ornaments, and a knit blanket wrap the base as a skirt to complete this cozy outdoor look.
Naked Christmas Tree
Sometimes less is more! You don't always need a lot of tree decor to have a magical Christmas experience. A naked tree can be the perfect touch to your Christmas decor. Simple and timeless, you can't go wrong.
Walmart Christmas Tree with Bow Topper
Walmart Christmas decor gets better every year. This year’s viral My Texas House pre-lit tree is a favorite. With its twinkle lights and basket base, it’s simple yet stunning.
Naked Flocked Christmas Tree
A pre-lit flocked tree brings a bright and festive atmosphere to a room. A white Christmas tree paired with a basket tree collar is the perfect backdrop for all your Christmas decor.
Set of Christmas Trees
You can also pair your flocked tree with bare mini trees, adding depth and dimension for a magical little forest in your living room.
Wooden Dowel Tree
This DIY dowel tree is minimalist and playful. Decorated with small nutcracker ornaments and a ribbon bow topper, it’s great for small spaces.
You can learn how to make your own in my post How to Make a Simple Wooden Dowel Christmas Tree.
Rustic Farmhouse Outdoor Christmas Tree
A rustic skinny tree on my back porch got a farmhouse twist with cotton stems, a vintage crock base with a knitted Christmas tree skirt, and a metal star topper. Cozy and inviting!
Real Christmas Tree
For many yeasr we always used a real tree on the back porch with birds, red berries, ornaments I brought back from Romania and a metal star.
The girls and I would go to the tree farm to search for just the right tree. It was so much fun! What great memories!
If you add a tree to your back porch consider adding it in a planter or crock like we did. Then fill it with outdoor themed decor or anything that is natural like antler ornaments and birds.
Golden and White Tree
This elegant tree shines with gold and white ornaments, a sheer ribbon bow topper, gold bows, white ornaments and a basket collar base for a polished look.
Small Real Christmas Tree on Front Porch
On our front porch one year, I added a small real tree from Lowe's. Lowe's is a great place to shop for real trees. This tree got a galvanized base and was topped with a ribbon bow to match the wreath.
Repeating patterns brings a design together.
