  1. Although I have not tried this, I am told that Sherwin Williams is able to tint your trim paint with 1/2 of the tint in regular Alabaster and it looks amazing. Same color, only brighter!

  2. Hi Linda.

In your opinion, could I use SW alabaster in a kitchen next to SW pure white cabinets and trim? I’m afraid if I do pure white on walls with different sheen that it will look sterile. I’m trying to stay away from Greys. Thanks in advance!

    • Hi Kelly! That is a very good question. If I want white walls and cabinets I go with the same white and the same sheen. What is your cabinet sheen? If it is satin I would do the same color in satin. I hope this helps!

  3. Love this post. What color would you suggest for a trim color and door color (exterior is being is being painted Alabaster) *leaning towards Wythe blue from BM for door, but open for suggestions with turquoise hint
    THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

    • Good questions! If I was painting my house Alabaster I would do the trim the same color. For the door, I think Wythe Blue would be beautiful if you go with all white trim. My door is Wythe Blue but I had it mixed at Sherwin Williams. It is a little less bright as it appears in the photos on my blog. Here is a post where you can see a photo of my door on the front porch. https://lifeonsummerhill.com/wheat-wreath-diy/

But black windows look fabulous on an all-white house too. If I was painting my windows black I would consider a soft black like Iron Ore or Peppercorn. If I painted my windows black I would do the door the same color or a lighter tone stain. My friend Jenny on Instagram has a white house with black windows. Here is an example of her house. https://www.instagram.com/p/CAnF6QeH-s7/

I hope this helps! Good luck!

  4. Hi,

We are leaning towards alabaster for walls in basement. What color would you do a barn door? Our floors will be rustic brown. Thank you!

    • The first thought that came to mind is a black color like Peppercorn or Iron ore but if you are trying to brighten up your basement I would go with Alabaster.

  5. I’ve been researching Alabaster in anticipation of a kitchen Reno which would I Clyde painting our cabinetry….
Do you think Alabaster cabinetry pairs well with Ceasarstone Statuario Nuova quarts countertops…. or perhaps Calacatta Gold (Eternal)?
    Thanks… love your pics!!!

    • I am not familiar with the countertop but Alabaster is a great white that matches just about everything. When I am planning a space I look for rooms with the colors I am considering. Try looking up white kitchen cabinets and the countertop name. This will help you see how it will look in your home. I hope this helps!

  6. If you were painting your exterior alabaster, what color should the trim be? The same? Or a different white shade? I used to cringe mixing whites, but I see it’s an accepted thing. Please help if you can!

    • Your ceiling color appears darker than it does on a paint chip. Hold the paint chip up over your head to see what I mean. But that wouldn’t stop me from using Alabaster on the ceiling. I would also consider Ceiling Bright White. It is a brighter white but when on a ceiling it will look a tiny bit darker.

  7. Hi I’m thinking of doing alabaster in an entrance and hallway next to conservative grey in the kitchen. Do you think that would go or would it pull a yellow tone?

    Reply
    • Whites can pick up other colors close by but Alabaster is a clean white color so unless it is next to a yellow or warm undertone then it should not real as a yellow. Another factor to consider is your lighting. If you have warm light bulbs in the entrance or hallway that may cause a yellow tone. I hope this helps! Good luck with your paint project.

  8. I am painting my exterior stucco alabaster. I have large trim and brand new white vynil windows. I always heard trim should match the white of the windows. IF that is the case my trim would be High reflective white with alabaster body. Would that be something you think would look good?

    • I recommend to my clients to not use two different white paint colors. If you want your trim and how to be white I would do the Alabaster. If you want your trim to be a different color look at a light neutral color like tan or contrasting color. I hope this helps.

    • That is a good question. When looking at white colors hold them next to each other in natural light to see the undertones. If you hold Alabaster next to Extra White it will show you that it has a slight warm undertone. I hope this helps.

  9. If using Alabaster on my home exterior, body and trim, should it all be the same sheen? Also what black and sheen for the front door? One more question, the interior…we have a lot of creams, is it ok to go with Natural Choice interior if usuing Alabaster exterior?

    Reply
    • Hi Kim! These are all good questions. Let’s start with the first one, which is the sheen for your exterior. I would do the same sheen on my exterior siding and trim. The next question is a black recommendation for your front door. If you want a true black/black, then look at Tricorn Black, but if you want a softer cool charcoal black, look at Iron Ore. The sheen for the black depends on your style. Look at eggshell or satin if you are a farmhouse or cottage. If your home is more traditional, consider a semigloss. Last, as far as your interior, I think Natural Choice is good. I hope this helps and good luck on your home improvement projects!
